Welcome to my world!

 Hi everyone.

Welcome to my new blog (I actually set it up in June, but never got round to using it.)

I'm a 66 year old gay disabled writer, living and writing in Langley, Slough, Berkshire UK.

You can find out more about me and my work at www.richardhill.co.uk

At the time of writing, I'm studying an Open University short course 'Introduction to Creative Writing'.

This course is 6 weeks long and divided into three: The first two weeks cover poetry, the next two weeks are on fiction and the last two weeks are on scriptwriting.

I'm finding the poetry studies a bit hard going. Other students seem very analytical whereas I'm more 'logical' in my own poetry writing and have great difficulty in analysing other poets work. We're in Week 1 at the moment and studying the work of Malika Booker, which I neither understand nor find inspiring or interesting. Next week, we'll be looking at the work of Owen Sheers, whose work I've listened to in advance of this course, and very much 'enjoyed' his work 'Pink Mists'. Watch this space for how I progress.

I'm a member of Slough Writers Group which is very interesting and informative and a nice group of writers.

On Tuesday, 4th October, I went to another, more informal group the 'Innerverse' which meets fortnightly at the 'Hershel Arms' in Slough. It's run by a very interesting local poet Pete Cox.

This blog is very much experimental for me and intended to be instead of the OU blog I've been given, which I assume will be closed down when the course concludes.
