I've had a frustrating day today. I'm setting up my 'Dannydog Productions' website. I used to use it when I had a 'media' organization, but when I couldn't make it work, I abandoned it and the website www.dannydog.co.uk . However, I've decided to make it a place for 'links' to other 'writing' websites and resources. This is purely a 'hobby' project. I wanted to use the same 'homepage' that I'd previously used, but I'd lost all the files.
I remembered an online service called the 'Wayback Machine' at https://web.archive.org/. (The Wayback Machine is an initiative of the Internet Archive, a non-profit, building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts .). I used this service to look for it - and I found it listed from many years ago. I saved all the files, images, and HTML, and got it working on my pc. But it had a lot of additional HTML coding that I didn't need.
However, when I removed the unwanted HTML coding and tried to open it in a file I created on my desktop, I couldn't get it to work. But it worked in the 'downloaded' file. To cut a long story short, I spent hours trying to get this to work, I managed to get it working, and www.dannydog.co.uk now 'sits' on www.richardhill.co.uk/ddog .
My next 'project' will be to create a website for this domain name. Watch this space.
Yesterday, I did some work on my final assignment. I wrote around 800 words toward the 1,500-word count. I shall do what I usually do when I'm writing articles and that is to write 30-50% more than the required word count. I then leave it alone for a few days and come back to it with fresh eyes. I then edit out the 'extra' number of words which I believe makes for a more powerful and punchy piece.
Today, I did almost nothing (apart from ordering the above hoodie! - apt, or what?!)
