Last night I attended my SloughWriters group, which meets at Burnham Working Mens Club every Monday night during term time. Last night was a 'Manuscript Evening' where some members read a portion of their work to the group. I read out my short piece (300 word) called 'The Brocas'.
From their website: "Slough Writers is a friendly and supportive group for writers of all abilities, living in the Slough area."
I've been attending SloughWriters for a couple of years and find it both interesting and informative. Next Monday night, I shall be giving a presentation and workshop on 'Writing for Magazines' (non-fiction). This is the second evening I've hosted, the first being over a year ago when I ran a workshop on freewriting (which wasn't very good). This time, I've done much more preparatory work, so I hope it will be much improved.
SPEAKERNET
I'm hoping to be able to give a similar presentation to other clubs/societies/groups etc. in the area. As a result, I've registered with SpeakerNet, my individual details appearing here: https://speakernet.co.uk/talk/6457/writing-for-magazines-nonfiction . If you are, or someone you know is, interested in 'booking' me, please log into the link above. You can also go to SpeakerNet to search for other speakers on a whole range of interesting topics
